When they take more of our money through increased taxes to pay for free healthcare, it won’t be enough to really pay for it. So, they’re going to have to ration care to the elderly, cut the quality of care for everyone and tax us on the free benefits that we’re already paying for with our taxes. Whoo! Where do I sign up? Another brilliant idea from an out of control government.
One time, when I was living in Canada, I was hit in the head by a bottle. I went to the hospital and was stitched up in 3 hours. How much did it cost me? Nothing. Did I have to fill out any forms? Talk to an insurance broker? No. Did my employer have to pay for healthcare? No. I don’t understand how American’s can consider something as essential as heathcare to be left up to the free market. The free market is great for regulating wants (a new iphone, etc) but poor for needs. I hope conservatives and democrats can figure out the most efficient and cost effective way run something that works well enough for everyone. Besides, when is the last time anyone but the super rich could afford the cost of a new heart without insurance.
Your bottle to the head story sounds like emergency care. You would’ve received the exact same treatment in the U.S. by going to any ER.
