If something like this happened to the wife of a Republican it would be headline news. But since it involves a high-ranking Democrat, the media is happy to sweep it under the rug. Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers, the wife of House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr., is seeking a plea deal in connection to bribery charges. Court papers say she was paid off to vote in favor of a $1.2 billion sludge hauling contract with Synagro Technologies. Has the media even asked him about this? No, they’ve only protected him. If this was a republican’s wife there would be hearings and it would be front page news. Nice try, Scott. Maybe next time.

Who’s the bobblehead? Show me anywhere where Conyers has been held accountable in any way for what his wife has done. He’s gotten a total free pass. I’m amazed that anyone is amazed at the money/bribes all politicians take and most get away with. While you might think Mr. might/would know what his Mrs. was doing – not necessarily. She’s floating in the slums of Michigan, he’s swimming in the cesspool of congress.
Of course he knew. And if by some miracle he didn’t, we’ll never know because no one is even questioning him about it. If this was republican’s wife, the demoncrats and the press would use it to run him out of DC. The Republicans should be holding his feet to the fire on this but they’re giving him a pass.
